New beginnings and a bright future for ETB Witney

It is a case of new beginnings for ETB Witney and centre manager Alex Renkevic, who is looking forward to the New Year with renewed optimism and is urging the public to stay strong during an unprecedented year of challenges.

ETB has already invested £10,000 in the former HiQ site on Swingburn Place to upgrade equipment and signage and, despite the challenging climate, new boss Alex is excited about 2021 after recovering from cancer to forge a new life and career in Oxfordshire.

Alex, aged 26, is embarking on a new chapter with a clean bill of health, following a thyroid cancer diagnosis three years ago. He recently moved from the West Midlands to Southmoor and has been appointed as ETB Witney’s centre manager, thanks to 10 years of automotive aftermarket experience.

And he wants people to take a leaf from his book in terms of looking ahead and staying strong – even during the darkest of times during a testing 2020.

“I hope that my experiences can act as an inspiration for other people who might be struggling with their own issues. I managed to find light at the end of the tunnel with my own situation and while it can be difficult to look ahead with optimism during these times, the future can still be a bright one.

“My own personal journey hasn’t necessarily been an easy one, but aside from hospital checks every third month, things are good and I’m fit and healthy. Lots of people have their own hurdles to overcome, be it physically or mentally, but nothing need be insurmountable.

“Obviously, it has been a tough year for a number of reasons, but I do think the future can be a really positive one and I can’t wait for 2021 now! It has been a tough time for the industry generally, due to lockdown and the global pandemic, but I am already seeing signs of recovery.”

Alex is already on the lookout for an MOT tester and can’t wait to welcome motorists onto the ETB forecourt.

He added: “There are signs that the industry is recovering, as more people opt to maintain their vehicles rather than buy new ones. The means that more cars will need us for repairs and maintenance work, which is where we can assist.”

ETB Witney continues to offer the full range of automotive services including MOTs, servicing, batteries, wheel balancing, brakes and all other mechanical repairs.

ETB’s marketing manager John Tear said: “We see our new Witney depot as a hugely important part of our overall network and hopefully our investment shows how much we care about the town and our commitment to the community.”
